Michael McCarthy

Michael McCarthy is a studio potter living in Goshen, Massachusetts. He focuses on wheel thrown functional pottery fired in his wood kiln. Growing up in Albany, New York, he was influenced by the historical stoneware pots of the area and the methods in which they were made and fired. I teach ceramics at the Austen Riggs Center, a small private psychiatric hospital and residential treatment center. I teach these students as I would anyone, anywhere. I don’t know why my students have been admitted to the hospital; this is an important boundary.
