
ABOUT STUDIO POTTER:
Founded in 1972, Studio Potter (SP) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and online journal that is centered on ceramic studio practice. SP promotes the discussion of technology, criticism, aesthetics, and history within the ceramics community.
Studio Potter represents the multiplicity of voices in contemporary and historical ceramics by:
- Publishing exceptional and thought-provoking content;
- Strengthening and growing our community;
- Connecting artists, educators, collectors, curators, gallerists, critics, historians, and learners through narratives, interviews, and critical essays.
Overview:
This role supports the executive director in overseeing day-to-day administrative functions, membership, and development (fundraising, donor relations, grants, and sponsorships). Working closely with Studio Potter’s working board and board-led committees, they ensure smooth internal operations while also playing a key role in resource development and organizational growth. Our development and membership manager contributes meaningfully to a respected publication dedicated to ceramic arts. Key Responsibilities:
1. Human Resources & Administrative Support
- Oversee office operations and support staff/volunteers as needed;
- Maintain internal policies and procedures.
2. Development & Fundraising
- Work closely with Board committees to advance unearned and earned revenues for Studio Potter;
- Spearhead grants research, grant writing, and reporting;
- Support fundraising efforts, including donor cultivation, sponsorships, and membership growth;
- Manage sponsorship outreach and partnership development;
- Coordinate fundraising campaigns, events, and appeals;
- Track and report on fundraising goals;
- Research and apply for grants, managing applications and reporting requirements;
- Develop and execute fundraising campaigns, including annual appeals and special initiatives;
- Build relationships with funders, partners, and supporters to expand financial resources;
- Manage donor database and donation acknowledgments;
- Support membership queries and cultivate positive membership experience.
3. Board & Executive Support
- Prepare reports and materials for board meetings;
- Coordinate board communications and logistics;
- Assist the executive director in strategic planning and project management.
4. Financial & Administrative Coordination
- Manage donor and membership databases;
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit regulations and best practices.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills;
- Experience in HR and nonprofit operations;
- Background in fundraising, grant writing, or donor relations;
- Detail-oriented with excellent communication skills;
- Ability to work closely with leadership and support multiple departments, including but not limited to grants for apprenticeship manager, membership and social media coordinator, and editorial.
Compensation:
- Remote work
- Part-time
- 14 hours per week
- Salary: $24 per hour
