Author Profile
Ian M. Petrie

Originally from Minnesota's St. Croix Valley, Ian M. Petrie grew up surrounded by utilitarian pottery. During his studies at the University of Minnesota (BFA, 2013), he became enamored with decorating his handbuilt pottery with illustrations inspired by comics and manga. Throughout the course of two emerging artist residency programs at the Northern Clay Center and the Worcester Center for Crafts, Ian learned to incorporate the process of screen-printing to achieve more control and clarity in his graphic pottery. Today, Ian lives in Philadelphia and appreciates making highly decorated but affordable pottery that looks equally at home on the wall or on the table.
