Thoughts From the Road: Learning to Teach Workshops
January 27, 2020

Kristen Kieffer, 2008.In 2008 Kristen Kieffer wrote the article,"Thoughts From the Road: Learning to Teach Workshops." With over a decade of experience, she candidly shared insights about striking a balance between supporting one's students while establishing boundaries of self-preservation.

We are pulling it out of the archives for easy access this month as a companion to her recently published article in Ceramics Monthly, "Workshop Logistics: Contract Norms and Honorarium Realities." For anyone who has experienced the difficulty of honing contract negotiations while planning a workshop or for those who are considering adding workshops to their repertoire in an effort to diversity their income streams. Kieffer has delivered an even-handed and clear foundation, which supports an active conversation about existing practices and examination of how those practices might be improved.

Studio Potter is opening access to this article for the month of January. We hope you enjoy our site and, if you aren't already a subscriber, we hope you will take this opportunity to become one now.
