This week we made public the very first article from the Studio Potter archive. The article tells the story of colonial potter Daniel Clark and his diary, in which he documented his daily life. Setting a tone for the journal that still resonates today, SP founding editor, Gerry Williams, writes, “For whatever reason Daniel Cark felt the need to preserve his moment in history, we are fortunate it survived. If there is meaning to this ghostly resurrection across the years, it lies, perhaps, in the feeling of identity it evokes. In Daniel Clark we see ourselves. There is a kinship which exists between potters; neither age, nor place, nor time itself can alter or diminish that kinship." Read the full article from Volume 1, Number 1, Fall 1972.
