S. Portico Bowman’s Would You Give Up Arms For Wings? A story inspired by the visionary life & writings of Paulus Berensohn was a finalist for the AWP (Association of Writers & Writing Programs) Sue William Silverman Prize for Creative Nonfiction. Creation of the manuscript was supported by two grants from the Canada Council for the Arts.
Bowman has written over thirty essays in national and international publications such as Sculpture Magazine, Art Papers, various monograms, and numerous pieces for Ceramics: Art & Perception. In 2024, Bowman was a resident at the Studio Kura International Residency in Itoshima city, Fukuoka prefecture, Japan, where she began work on her third book and was soulfully broken open by the ceramic work of Shinichi Kotsuji.
